Visit Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in the region of Dalmatia, in the southeastern part of Croatia. It is one of the top tourist destinations in the Mediterranean as it is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites for its medieval architecture and fortified old town.

"Those who seek paradise on Earth must come to Dubrovnik”, wrote George Bernard Shaw, so what better reason for a visit here?

Most of the hotels and beaches are in the Lapad peninsula, and the main harbor, ferry terminals, and bus station are in Gruž. The oldest part of Dubrovnik, the Old Town is east of Lapad, at the bottom of Srd hill.

The Old Town is one of the top attractions here. The well-preserved city walls, along which you can walk, were erected by the 16th century, and are 1,940 meters long and 25 meters high, encircling most of the old city. Along its course and within the walls are several towers, fortresses, and numerous historic monuments.

You can stroll on the main street (Stradun) to see beautiful late-Renaissance houses on each side or explore the diversity of Croatian cuisine in one of the many restaurants and cafes. For some culture, visit the 14th-century convents that stand at the ends of the city: the Franciscans guarded the western gate, and the Dominicans the eastern. Go to the Rector’s Palace, dating from the 15th century, built in the late Gothic style. The Island of Lokrum also called the Island of Love, is in close vicinity to the Old City. It is famous for its gardens and orange groves and has a fortress and monastery.

If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, you can go on a special tour to visit the locations where scenes from the show were shot.
